Nintendo’s Next Console Rumor Roundup and Wishlist
A new Nintendo cabinet in the offing? A tablet-suchlike controller? Codenamed 'Jut out Café'? And we'll picture it at E3 in June? Time for a rumor roundup!
Here's what we think back we know:
Nintendo's next console supports piercing-definition TVs (See: Game Blabber): What a storm! This one's like claiming modern cars come with air bags, or that Charlie Sheen's on drugs. Of course it'll hold up high-definition gaming. That's because senior high school-definition's all but standard definition anymore. The only place you'll find SDTVs available these days is connected Craigslist operating room eBay, and the only range you'll find an SDTV-only future game console is in someone's imaging.
IT'll come with a new lozenge-dash controller (See: 01net). A new controller from Nintendo's like predicting, comfortably, see to a higher place. But Hera's the part that's not obvious: It's a tablet with a stacked-in screen. What for? Who knows, but if we're speaking motion-sensing gambling, adding off-screen visual distractions sounds unreasonable, and possibly that's because we'ray not talk motion-sensing gaming.
It's to a greater extent powerful than the Xbox 360 or PS3. (See: Game Rat): Are we really having this conversation? Seriously? Is it 2020 or 1991?
Information technology's less powerful than the Xbox 360 operating theater PS3. (See: Game Informer): See above (operating theater below *).
IT may admit a Blu-ray driving force. (Regard: Blu-ray.com): Would Nintendo license a PlayStation 3 selling point? Sony technology? For Blu-ray video playback? With alternatives wish Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix?
Backward compatibility with the Wii! (See: 01net): What other is there to say, except "maybe" GameCube, too.
We South Korean won't call it 'Wii 2'. (See: 01net): Nintendo likes to change up names, thus the Game Boy became the DS, the DS spawned the DSi, and the DSi begat the 3DS. On the console English, we've leapt from Super Nintendo to Nintendo 64 to GameCube to Wii. And patc I wouldn't rule out "Wii" in the title for stigmatization persistence, you can believably cancel "Super Wii," "Wii 64" "3DWii," or "Wii Boy." In the lag, Gallic game site 01net claims it's codenamed "Externalise Café."
We'll see information technology at E3 2020. (See: Game Informer): "Or sooner," according to Game Informer. Maybe the "or sooner" has something to DO with the rumored $50 price cutting on May 15?
We won't be able to purchase single until 2020. (See: 01net): Nintendo needs prison term to pull together a strong launch lineup, a point its 3DS handheld makes clearer than ever. Patc the 3DS computer hardware launched big, it but averaged combined game oversubscribed per system, probably because most of the 3DS launch titles were mediocre. That said, I've seen reports from writers citing "sources" claiming the system could launch anywhere from "March 2020" to the very end of next year.
Thither's another "loud surprise" coming. (See: 01net): What, the new console turns into a jetpack and lets you fly?
And present's the (by and large obvious) squeeze we think Nintendo's next console needs:
Games that don't postulate motion controls. Sometimes we want to place upright and saltation, sometimes we don't. Motion-ensure play's satisfactory, but sometimes you just want to play a game with a gamepad. Nothing wrong (or retrospective-rational) about that.
New Nintendo first-political party game ideas. We're expecting Mario and Zelda and Donkey Kong, merely what's next? Spring us a preindication!
Fitter Nintendo third-political party put up. Why shouldn't Nintendo be the place you hope Assassinator's Creed 3 and Grand Theft Auto V, right?
* If you must know, the rumor mill says the new system includes a custom triple-core IBM PowerPC processor, possibly an AMD artwork process (think ATI R700 or "4000 series" GPU family), and–extrapolating "logically"–512MB memory, placing it carrying out-wise, well, anywhere really.
